Kocljevina sodeluje v projektu EIP Grunt: kmetovanje za naravo in ljudi

Kocljevina – Institute for the Training and Employment of Persons with Disabilities participates as a partner farm in the EIP Grunt project, which focuses on developing innovative approaches to enhance biodiversity on farms. The project brings together farmers, advisors, researchers, and nature conservation organizations with the aim of finding sustainable solutions that simultaneously consider environmental, production, and economic aspects of farming.

The EIP Grunt project is based on the development and practical testing of comprehensive nature conservation advisory services at the level of individual farms. This approach includes an assessment of the baseline state of nature and the farm, the preparation of a tailored management plan, the implementation of selected measures, and the monitoring and evaluation of their impacts on both nature and farm operations.

Kocljevina is involved in the project as a model small mixed farm with a social function, which, in addition to agricultural activities, also provides work-based social rehabilitation for vulnerable groups. In this way, the project also addresses the broader social dimension of sustainable rural development.

Within the project, several nature conservation measures will be tested at the Kocljevina farm, including:

• restoration and adapted management of extensive grassland habitats,

• establishment of grass buffer strips along arable fields,

• installation of perches for birds of prey, owls, and insectivorous birds,

• creation or restoration of ponds,

• establishment of woodpiles (habitat piles),

• and measures to improve the condition of target animal species in farm buildings.

A special emphasis of the project is on knowledge transfer and the exchange of experience. Therefore, we will also participate in training programs and in presenting project solutions to other farms, experts, and the interested public.

Participation in the EIP Grunt project represents an important step for Kocljevina toward the further development of nature-friendly farming that integrates nature conservation, sustainable land use, and social inclusion, and contributes to a more resilient and vibrant rural landscape.
